Truth, Justice and the Clemens Way

There seems to be some disagreement as to whether Clemens demanded the hearing before Congress, as committee chairman Henry Waxman has claimed.  Here is the statement from one of Clemens' attorneys as to why they believe the hearing wasn't their idea:

"When I was first retained, I argued to this committee that this should not be the kind of hearing that they had, that Roger Clemens would be proud and delighted to join chairman Waxman and anyone else and to say to them and to say to anyone else what he has said to the children all over America: That there are no shortcuts, that it's hard work, and he is against steroids and he is against HGH. I was turned down flat," Breuer said.

The Clemens camp is completely incorrigible.  Once again denying responsibility, they blame the hearing on a committee that felt it needed to delve a little deeper into the issue than present Clemens with U.S.A. emblazoned on his chest (superman cape too, probably) declaring "steroids, bad".

You know, I almost felt sorry for old lip licking Roger getting the **** kicked out of him by the facts.  After reading this, I feel a lot better.  I may even put the DVD on and watch it again.

I don't think many of these guys truly understand the concept that aspects of their lives (good and bad) can be totally separate. Clemens making the opening statement basically reciting his resume, listing all the people that support him and all the good things he's done in his life don't automatically mean he's telling the truth about PEDs. Paul Byrd tried the same thing with religion when he got busted with the HGH prescriptions in October. There's no connection between one thing and another.

To tell the truth, or not!

Roger Clemens started this whole process! ...

The more Roger [and, his lawyers] talk, the more unbelievable Clemens sounds!

The truth can set you free, but it looks like Roger Clemens will forever be chained to his own lies!

Paul,

Clemens is too much of a simpleton to understand that sometimes good people do bad things.

Jimmy,

Roger Dodger would have been much better served if he had issued a simple response after the Mitchell Report: "I'm not going to dignify that report with a comment."

Of course he could have just come clean...

I just watched Eight Men Out, and what a great theme song! "After You've Gone."
MLB really is the pulley that has us all on the string, the fans on one side, and the players on the other. Note the innocence of the clips played during the end credits.

Cheers

Chris

Did I really say once that I thought Clemens didn't come across angry enough? Stupid chick...
